Today has been a good day

Nov 10 2004

Finally I have a desk at which to start my new position as Senior Web Designer for the company. The formal handover of responsibilities for my current job is set for 1st January 2005, but I’ve already started on some (long overdue) design work – and it’s such a welcome change to be doing something I really enjoy.

I also have a pretty warm freelance prospect on the horizon, although I think I might have over-egged the benefits of accessibility when I met with them, given that we seemed to be talking about it for well over half the time I was there. They want a proposal for a full brand redesign by the weekend – looks like my Nano novel is going to suffer even more; I’m already over halfway behind on my wordcount, and it’s only the second day of Week Two!

Surprisingly enough I’m also quite excited about my 30th birthday on Thursday, although I can’t help reflecting how times have changed in a relatively short space of time – who would have thought a generation ago that 30-year-old men would be receiving games and toys for their birthdays?
