One year ago today I made my first post on The (then Blogger-powered) Watchmaker Project.
365 days and 142 posts later, I’ve had over 11,000 visitors and getting on for 100,000 page views; 186 comments (the second-ever one from non-other than Jon Hicks himself!), written some pretty good and not so good entries (the most popular, on my reinstall problems with XP, has attracted thousands of search hits) and been involved in one of the most talked-about events of the year.
The biggest referrers have been Google, CSS Reboot, Joshuaink, Whitespace and Telerana, and Stuart has been the most prolific commenter.
I’ve also redesigned three times in the space of a year, which seems to be par for the course, and launched another blog for design-specific articles.
It’s been a pretty good year for me, what with getting a new job actually doing something I enjoy, and landing a few big freelance jobs; the blogging hasn’t always come easily, but I’ve found that if you just write what you want to write about, you’ll enjoy it a lot more than if you try to write what you think people want to read.
