GTDTiddlyWiki // CSS Reboot

Jul 14 2005

I’ve spent much of this morning playing with my new favourite toy – the GTDTiddlyWiki by Nathan Bowers and Jeremy Ruston.

It’s been covered in detail on other GTD-related sites – I found it via 43 Folders – but basically it is an all-in-one ‘To Do’ list that lives in a single HTML page on your local machine or website. You can create, edit or delete individual lists, link between them or to external sites, and basically customise the page to meet your individual needs.

It sells itself on the ability to print directly to a Hipster PDA, but for me (not being nearly enough geek to have one of those) the combination of instant updates without saving and database reliance, plus the smoothly designed Javascript interface, is enough to make me ditch my previous Notepad-powered ‘To Do’ list.

Hear Adam speak!

Adam Howell finally announced the launch today of the second 2005 CSS Reboot, complete with snazzy new redesign, user maintenance system and reboot blog. I’ve signed up to give myself a deadline for the next redesign of this site – November 1st is the date to aim for, so I’ll be trying extra hard to say no to the next client request I get!

Adam has also recorded a podcast of the launch announcement with a little more detail.

Can’t wait to see what you come up with Matthew. I really like the temporary design you’ve got now.

Yeah, having that deadline really helped me last time. I was able to chop it all up into little time chunks and even though I was up all night the night before, I did a pretty good job of planning out the whole thing—without that deadline, though, no way!
