MediaTemple

Sep 06 2005

Well, I finally got around to doing something that I’ve been planning for a while – tonight I began the process to move all my sites from my current host and over to Media Temple. They’ve got a great 15% offer on today, so I’ve opened an account and am now in the process of trying to remember the 101 things I have to do to avoid screwing up all my client’s accounts.

Hopefully this site will still be here in the morning…

May I ask what your plan was? I bought MediaTemple and was a bit disappointed by their control panel system. (No, not Plesk, but whatever they had for the 2GB Shared Hosting plan.) So I immediately got a refund after realizing that I can’t create multiple MySQL users and have control over database access lists.

Their server response, load, and speed was definitely amazing compared to DreamHost, but I just didn’t feel as though if the control panels are not going to let me “control” enough stuff, it wasn’t worth my money.

Well, now, I moved to TextDrive.

This is great feedback from both posts, and quite timely as well. (mt) Media Temple is currently in the phase of rebuilding its (ss) Shared-Server control panel systems. We are completely overhauling the way database management happens – so we will take this information into high consideration. Thank you! – Demian Sellfors, Co-founder, (mt) Media Temple
