Volunteer
I don’t quite know why, but recently I seem to have been struck by the urge to do something for nothing, and in a variety of ways no less.
It started with a sponsored relay race in aid of East Anglian Air Ambulance. Given that I hadn’t run (apart from to catch the train) since I was about 14, I was not at all sure that I’d be up to it; but as it turns out, it was the kickstart I needed to start running regularly. I’m now up to a regular 5½ miles along windy Fen roads – the Google Maps Pedometer is an enormous help in finding different routes.

I’ve also joined the staff of one of my favourite internet resources, Digital Web magazine. As their new Assistant Managing Editor I’ll be editing articles for publication, as well as helping out on the back-end a little.
Contrary to public opinion, I didn’t write the introduction piece myself – can I help it if I’m perfect? ;)

Finally, I have also become a Parent Governor at our local primary school, which our daughters will be attending (barring lottery wins) until 2015 (yikes!). The first meeting is tonight; I have no idea what to expect, but hopefully there will be plenty of opportunity to contribute to the improvement of the school. I must confess to feeling decidedly un-rock’n’roll though; before you know it I’ll be running a stall at the village fete and buying a pipe and slippers…

hi matt
I use http://www.mapmyrun.com/ for my runs as it lets you save them as well.
Also I’d recommend fetcheveryone.com for keeping track of all your runs.
