We've got a bug - want to fix it?
There was an interesting blog post on the Meebo blog yesterday. Discussing the progress of bug fixing their ‘pop-out’ IM window feature, they noted one particular IE bug that had been causing them trouble; but, instead of just releasing the fix quietly, they chose to share the fun of bug-hunting with their community:
Unfortunately, while most of the bugs that Ben had fixed were gone for good, one bug kept coming back time and time again. The unkillable bug is an Internet Explorer only bug and actually has a very simple solution. Instead of giving you the solution, however, we’d like to give you the opportunity to figure it out on your own. Shoot us an email if you do!
It’s a great example of how an honest and open company/customer relationship should work—treat your users as if they were your friends, and they’ll repay you with their loyalty.
