Beating Wii Tennis
Apr 29 2007
After several months I’ve finally broken the 2000 point barrier on Wii Tennis, although it took a final push of five perfect matches in a row. I’ve found that once you get above about 1700, you have to play 5-game matches if you want to avoid losing points.
My strategy basically consists of:
- Perfecting the fast serve: By twisting your wrist at the point at which you hit the ball (assuming you serve over-arm) you’ll deliver a high-speed serve which sometimes aids a points win (I’ve never aced the CPU player though)
- Long games: By dragging out the start of a game you can rapidly tire the opposing player, making them sweat—I found that hitting fast cross-court returns makes them run the furthest and tires them out quickly. Once they’re tired, mistakes are made and they can’t reach those wide shots
- Quick reactions: You need to react fast at two particular times: When the opposition fast-serves (so be ready to return before they serve), and when their net player returns the ball. I found that cultivating an instinctual return by my front guy every time their front person returned the ball was an easy way to win points.

Awesome tips and congratulations! I finally found a Wii last week and have been playing Wii Tennis like crazy. Didn’t even know about the fast serve. That should work quite nicely!
