Vice City - Sir, Yes Sir
In a break from our scheduled programming, here is a brief walkthrough for one of the toughest missions in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, which I finally figured out how to do easily last night.
Firstly make sure that you have a weapon that can destroy vehicles – the heavy-duty machine gun from the earlier ‘Guardian Angels’ mission is ideal, or the shotgun will do just as well.
After receiving your instructions at the dock, hop in the car parked nearby and head off past the hospital and over the bridge, then turn right and head towards where the convoy is approaching until you get to the police station on your left – you should reach it with plenty of time.
Park your vehicle in the road to block the path of the convoy (if you’ve got time, you might like to also move some of the police cars to make a more substantial roadblock).
Next, enter the cafe across from the police station (again, if you’ve got time you can rob the guy behind the counter before killing him), select your weapon of choice, and wait for the convoy to arrive.
When they reach your roadblock, all vehicles will stop and a soldier will be ordered to “move that civilian vehicle” – this is when you step out of the cafe door and shoot as many of the soldiers as you can before jumping back indoors as all hell breaks loose.
All the army vehicles apart from the tank will try to ram you while soldiers shoot from inside; but unless you stand right in the doorway, none of them will be able to get at you! The cars will try to get in through the doors – shoot them until they blow up, killing all the occupants (remember to stand well back so you don’t blow yourself up too). Then all that’s left to do is mop up any remaining soldiers who were missed in the first volley, kill the guy on top of the tank, get in, and drive off with your prize.
This approach makes the mission a hell of a lot easier than attempting a full-on assault of the convoy, and you should be able to grab the tank with the minimum of damage to yourself.

- I’d read that it was as easy as that, but every time I tried it I was told “You’ll have to get the soldiers to leave the tank”, and then got shot by 30 people at once.
The garage idea is good though – have to try that one. - #2

- 1: Any car and park it in the middle of the road, preferrably in the direction of the tank.
2: Go stand near the tank, ignoring the command to get away.
3:When the commander orders the troops to move the civilian vehicle, wait til the driver jumps out, then get in.

- No roadblock is necessary for this mission. Wait near the police station in a vehicle or on a motorcycle. The tank will stop at the doughnut shop and a soldier will exit the tank and enter the shop. When this happens drive next to te tank, exit your vehicle and enter the tank. Drive off in the tank ramming any vehiclre in your path, and go to the pink marker. Mission accomplished.

1) get a car.
2) drive the car in front of the tank to stop it.
3) get out of the car and walk to the tank door.
4) get inside the tank and drive away.
As an additional perk, buy a garage nearby the tank hijack location and drive the tank there before the mission time is out. Fail the mission. Do it again and now drive the tank to the correct location. You have a tank at your disposal, which makes some later missions a lot easier.
